Alexander Westmacott

Biography

Alexander Westmacott is undertaking research into the relationship between art, spirituality and agriculture. His approach focuses on pieces from the canon of English poetry and music, using philosophical archaeology to explore how these artefacts can reveal new or forgotten ways of understanding the relationships between human beings, the land and the divine.

He also holds the inaugural Oxford Monastic Institute – Tavener Centre for Music and Spirituality joint doctoral fellowship, and lectures in environmental economics at Sparsholt College, a specialist land-based college within the University of Portsmouth. He also holds previous degrees from The University of Oxford, and the University of London.
