FALL SESSION 2020 – NEW INFORMATION

The seminar schedule for the PACT October session is still in development.  We are securing commitments from the invited faculty and addressing scheduling issues with them.  We will post the list of seminars in the coming weeks.

The October session, lasting 24 days, will begin on October 2.  Seminars will be held this year in the “Old Campus” facility of the University of Malta in Valletta.  This refurbished building will provide us with technically sophisticated meeting rooms comparable to what we will enjoy in Bergamo during this year’s summer session.  In other words, we are looking forward to an enhanced experience in Malta.  We will benefit from all the virtues of Valletta in a more central location.

The Malta meeting will feature a second instalment of our “Alter Eco” seminar.  The seminar is still in development, but will involve, as it did in 2019, an exceptional group of faculty.  “Alternative Economies, Alternative Ecologies” is an exciting experiment that represents a new departure for the PACT division.   It is a kind of colloquium, inasmuch as it involves a significant team of faculty and guests, but retains the special qualities of an EGS seminar.  It allows for a new foray into areas that have not been substantially addressed in past years.

Other seminars and workshops will involve areas of study such as quantum theory (we will be welcoming back Karen Barad), creative writing, contemporary music, film, curation, philosophy, and political thought.  As those who follow us have recognized, we are in a process of significant renewal, so we will be introducing new names to our standard roster of distinguished faculty.  We are looking forward to an exciting meeting in Malta.
