New Leading Contemporary Voices course on Jean-Luc Nancy
The PACT Division of the EGS is pleased to announce the creation of a new set of public seminar offerings.
Drawing from the model of our successful Leading Thinkers series, we are introducing a new set of meetings devoted to Leading Contemporary Voices. Leading Thinkers series, which will continue, was designed to provide in-depth preparation in the works of prominent philosophers and theorists from the past who have shaped contemporary thought. Thus far, we have taken up figures such as Hegel, Nietzsche, Heidegger, Lacan, and Derrida.
In adding a series devoted to Leading Contemporary Voices, we turn to prominent theorists of our time who have shaped, or are shaping current critical discourse. An event devoted to the work of Slavoj Žižek this spring effectively launched this project, and in November 21 of 2026, we will follow with meetings directed by Aïcha Liviana Messina devoted to the work of Jean-Luc Nancy.
As with the Leading Thinkers series, the seminar meetings will pursue a broad approach to the work of the authors taken up, but always in the mode of critical engagement. Seminar directors and participants in the Leading Contemporary Voices will thus pursue interpretive readings of the texts under consideration. The course can thus serve an introductory purpose for those who are not very familiar with the respective authors, but should also be of interest to those already working with their writings.
