Peter Klepec

Peter Klepec, born 1966, in Kranj, Slovenia.
Studied philosophy at the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia, 1987-1992. Journalist and editor of “Redaction for society and theory” of Radio Student, Ljubljana, 1989-1992.
Master’s degree in 1995 for a study on German Idealism, doctor’s degree in 1998 for a study on contemporary French philosophy (Badiou & Deleuze). Both degrees under direct supervision of Professor Slavoj Žižek. Studied at Université Paris VIII in 1999 (with Professor Jacques Rancière), in 2003 and 2004. Lectured as a Lecturer at University of Maribor in 1999, University of Ljubljana, University of Primorska (Koper) 2000-2002, ISH Ljubljana, collaborated from 2003-2005 with Worker’s & Punker’s University of Ljubljana, since 2006 lectures (together with Alenka Zupančič) “Psychoanalysis and Social Bond” included in module “Transformation of modern thought – philosophy, psychoanalysis, culture” at Postgraduate program Comparative Studies of Ideas
and Cultures, at Postgraduate School of ZRC SAZU.
Works as Research Advisor at the Institute of Philosophy ZRC SAZU, Ljubljana, Slovenia. His main areas of research are French contemporary philosophy, German Idealism and Lacanian psychoanalysis. He published numerous papers on Kant, Hegel, Freud, Lacan, Deleuze, Badiou, Foucault, Rancière, Lyotard, Lefort, Habermas, Negri, Agamben, Laclau etc., and published three books: The Emergence of the Subject (In Slovene: Vznik subjekta), (Philosophica, Series Moderna). Member (since 1990) of editorial board of Slovene Lacanian revue Problemi (ISSN 0555- 2419; http://www.drustvo-dtp.si/analecta/ ) and editor-in-chief of Filozofski vestnik (ISSN 0353-4510; http://filozofskivestnikonline.com/index.php/journal/).
In 2010 he edited and selected texts for the first (shortened) reader of Slavoj Žižek texts to appear in Slovene, Začeti od začetka (DZS, Ljubljana) completely sold out (8000 copies) in three weeks. The (original) reader was published a year later, in 2011 (Slavoj Žižek, Poskusiti znova – spodleteti bolje (Ljubljana: Cankarjeva založba 2011). The reader included also the extensive in-depth dictionary of 70 major concepts, conceived and made by Klepec himself, with cross-references to all Žižek’s Slovenian or English works and to works of other
members of Slovene Lacanian School, Lacan, Miller, Marx, Hegel etc. In 2012 he edited another such a reader of the other most important member of Ljubljana Lacanian School, Mladen Dolar, this time with new in-depth dictionary of 72 major concepts in Dolar’s opus,
with cross-references to his Slovenian or English works, to works of Žižek, Freud, Lacan, Alenka Zupančič Žerdin, etc.
